BMCC 2020: Getting Ready For The NHS

Our team at MedConnect Academy is extremely excited to host our annual British Medical Careers Conference this weekend for students that are currently studying abroad!

As medical students ourselves, we realised that there was a sense of isolation amongst the students studying abroad. Medical students abroad had truly little exposure to key elements of the NHS that medical students in the UK have greater access towards. We wanted to change this and create more opportunities for those studying abroad as inevitably they will be transitioning back to the UK once they finish their medical training.

The objective of this conference is to educated British students that are abroad about the opportunities available in the UK after graduation. It is also to help raise awareness and bridge the gap between the students that have been abroad for 6 years and the healthcare organisations in the UK.

With the success of our first conference held in Plovdiv last year with over 500 attendees, we decided to hold another conference this year. Even bigger and better. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were unable to hold the event in person however we decided to go ahead through virtual means.

Our theme this year is “Welcome to the NHS” and will feature representatives from organisations such as the GMC, BMA, NHS Professionals and more! We will also be joined by past graduates from Bulgarian universities that have successfully launched their medical careers in the UK.

The conference will cover a wide range of topics from the transition of past graduates back into the UK to also covering the process of obtaining your GMC license and the introduction of the UKMLA. There will be talks covering the various routes to complete foundation training such as the Gateway for Doctors Programme, WAST Programme and the Stand Alone FY2 Posts. We will also have talks about the various organisations that are important to medical students are doctors in the UK like the BMA.

As always, MedConnect Europe clients will be receiving free tickets although we are opening this event to ALL students studying abroad whether you initially applied through MedConnect Europe or not. We believe this information is important to everybody that is studying in Europe.

Looking forward to seeing everybody through Zoom on Saturday the 8th of August 2020!
