How Jamila Found the Right Path to Study Dentistry Abroad

For many UK students, the dream of becoming a dentist can feel out of reach due to intense competition and limited university places. For Jamila, the solution came after a simple online search that changed the direction of her future.

After researching options to study dentistry in Europe, she discovered MedConnect Europe and ultimately secured her place at Plovdiv Medical University in Bulgaria, where she is now pursuing her dental degree.

This is her story.

Looking for Dentistry Opportunities Outside the UK

Like many aspiring dental students, Jamila started her journey online.

“I basically typed in ‘study medicine in Europe’ and it came up with loads of different ones.”

While comparing different providers, one thing immediately caught her attention.

“I saw you guys had 100% student satisfaction, so then I clicked on you guys.”

She didn’t rely solely on internet research either. After speaking with people she knew locally who had experience with MedConnect, she became even more confident in her decision.

“I then spoke to some people who I knew from around where I lived and they recommended MedConnect.”

That combination of online research and personal recommendations gave her the reassurance she needed to move forward.

Managing the University Application Process

Applying to a medical or dental university abroad involves collecting numerous documents, meeting deadlines, and ensuring everything is submitted correctly.

For Jamila, MedConnect simplified the entire process through its application portal and structured guidance.

“MedConnect actually helped me with everything.”

She was provided with a clear checklist outlining exactly what was needed, including:

  • Passport photographs
  • Predicted grades
  • GCSE results
  • Other supporting application documents

Having everything organised well before enrolment made arriving in Bulgaria much easier.

“When I came here to enrol, I didn’t have to do any of that because you had it.”

A Stress-Free Experience Compared to Other Students

One of the biggest differences Jamila noticed was how smooth her own experience was compared to friends who applied independently.

When asked whether the process was stressful, she explained:

“It was stress-free. Compared to my other friends, it was definitely stress-free.”

For many students, navigating foreign university admissions without guidance can become overwhelming. Having dedicated support throughout the application process helped remove much of that pressure.

Preparing for the Plovdiv Medical University Entrance Exam

Entrance examinations are often one of the biggest concerns for prospective students considering dentistry in Bulgaria.

Jamila credits MedConnect’s preparation resources with helping her achieve her result.

“There was a portal which you guys provided which had all the past papers and all the videos and textbooks as well.”

She found these study materials extremely valuable.

“It was really, really helpful because I definitely found it helped me get the grade I did.”

Jamila’s Advice for Future Dentistry Applicants

Based on her own experience, Jamila offers practical advice for anyone preparing for the Plovdiv Medical University entrance examination.

For Chemistry:

“Just practice all the multiple-choice questions. That’s what’s going to get you through.”

For Biology:

“Learn the different systems. That’s kind of handy as well.”

Her recommendation highlights the importance of targeted preparation using past papers and focused revision rather than simply memorising textbooks.

Travelling to Bulgaria and Arriving for University

Moving abroad for university can feel intimidating, but Jamila appreciated the organised travel arrangements.

Students travelled together from London before arriving in Sofia and continuing onward to Plovdiv by coach.

She felt this was particularly beneficial because it familiarised students with alternative travel routes they could use in the future if direct flights were unavailable.

The journey also provided reassurance during those first few days of relocating to a new country.

Finding Student Accommodation in Plovdiv

Accommodation is another common concern for international students, but Jamila was able to secure her apartment quickly.

She moved into her accommodation shortly after arriving and spent time with her parents furnishing and preparing it for student life.

“I really like my apartment.”

Interestingly, mentioning that she was applying through MedConnect also proved helpful during the rental process.

“When I was speaking to the agents, I mentioned that I was with MedConnect, so that was very handy as well.”

This enabled her to organise accommodation efficiently before settling into university life.

Would Jamila Recommend MedConnect Europe?

After experiencing the full admissions journey, from researching universities to relocating to Bulgaria and beginning her studies, Jamila’s recommendation is straightforward.

“I would recommend MedConnect if you’re looking for a stress-free process.”

Reflecting on her experience compared to friends who handled everything independently, she adds:

“I definitely think I didn’t struggle as much as my other friends.”

Jamila’s Journey Shows That Studying Dentistry Abroad Can Be Simpler Than You Think

Jamila’s story demonstrates that with the right preparation and support, studying dentistry in Europe can be a clear and manageable process.

From finding the right university and preparing for entrance exams to organising documents, accommodation, and relocation, having experienced guidance can make a significant difference.

Today, she is building her future as a dentistry student at Plovdiv Medical University, having successfully navigated the journey from aspiring applicant to enrolled international student.
