You can sit UPJS exam without travelling to Slovakia by booking MedConnect Europe’s official UK sitting instead of flying to Košice. If you’re applying to study Medicine or Dentistry at Pavol Jozef Safarik University, this is now the most straightforward way to sit it. No flights, no hotel, just the exam.

MedConnect Europe hosts an official UK sitting of the exam. Students can complete the same admissions assessment without leaving the country.

Why Students Look for a Way to Avoid Travelling

Sitting the exam in Slovakia means booking flights and somewhere to stay. Most applicants arrange this before they even know whether they’ll get a place.

A UK sitting lets you sit UPJS exam without travelling to Slovakia, removing that cost and uncertainty. The assessment itself does not change. Only the location does.

This is different from routes that claim you can skip the entrance test altogether. UPJS does not waive the entrance exam for General Medicine or Dentistry applicants. What can change is where you sit it.

How You Sit UPJS Exam Without Travelling to Slovakia

The UK sitting follows the same format as the exam held on campus. You can check the official Faculty of Medicine exam page for the university’s own description.

The UK sitting and the Košice exam are equally difficult. They use the same content and the same scoring. This route means you sit UPJS exam without travelling to Slovakia, while sitting the identical paper as everyone in Košice.

What Stays the Same Wherever You Sit

A UK sitting removes the need to travel for the exam. It does not remove any other part of the application. You will still need:

  • A completed application through AiS2, the university’s own system
  • A medical certificate confirming you’re fit to study, dated within the last three months
  • A copy of your passport or ID
  • Proof you’ve paid the university’s entrance exam fee
  • An apostilled school leaving certificate with a notary-authorised Slovak translation, completed in Slovakia

That last step applies no matter where you sit the test. Most applicants miss this step or leave it too late. MedConnect Europe guides applicants through it as part of its application support.

Who This Suits

A UK sitting tends to suit applicants who:

  • Are applying to Medicine or Dentistry this admissions cycle
  • Want to avoid overseas travel for an entrance test
  • Are applying during clearing and need a date after UK results day
  • Would rather not take time off school or college to travel abroad

Applicants planning to visit Košice anyway, to see the university or meet current students, may prefer to sit the exam there directly.

Registering for a UK Sitting

You do not need to become a MedConnect Europe client to sit the exam in the UK. You can register directly as an independent applicant. If you want support with your application, documents, or preparation materials, you can choose that separately. Neither option obliges you to take the other.

Places are limited. MedConnect Europe allocates them first come, first served, so early registration improves your chances of securing a seat. Registering early is the simplest way to sit UPJS exam without travelling to Slovakia this year.

Our guide explains when and how UPJS publishes entrance exam results, including result timelines for both sittings.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to travel to Slovakia to take this test?

It’s possible, but difficult, especially if you’re applying from outside the UK. Visa timelines, combined with how fast clearing places disappear, make it hard for non-UK applicants to secure a place in time. European universities with rolling admissions, UPJŠ included, tend to be a more practical route if you need more time to sort visas, documents, and travel around your application

Do I need to apply through MedConnect Europe to take part?

It’s still possible. We work with students who’ve come through all sorts of qualifications, not just the standard Biology/Chemistry A-level combination, including resit students and those with alternative or non-standard qualifications. Requirements vary by university. Some, UPJŠ among them, weight a written entrance exam more heavily than specific A-level subjects, so a “wrong” A-level combination isn’t automatically disqualifying. Get in touch and we’ll walk through your specific situation and what’s realistically open to you.

Is the UK sitting recognised the same as sitting in Slovakia?

Yes. It uses the same format, scoring, and official supervision as the exam in Košice.

Do I still need Slovak paperwork if I sit in the UK?

Yes. You must still complete the apostille and notary-authorised Slovak translation of your school leaving certificate in Slovakia, regardless of where you sit the exam.

What happens after I pass?

You continue through the university’s standard admissions process. If your offer is confirmed, you get a place to study Medicine or Dentistry at UPJS.
